The pledge serves as a shared promise that fosters community engagement, accountability, and a unified effort toward a healthier future for all residents.

Keep Otsego Lake Healthy
Property owners and residents are invited to pledge one or more of the following best management practices to help protect the long-term health, water quality, and well-being of Otsego Lake for current and future generations.
Keep Nitrogen and Phosphorus Out of the Lake
Maintain septic systems, use phosphorus-free fertilizer, dispose of pet waste properly, keep fire pits 50+ feet from shore.
Lake Friendly Lawn Care
Maintain native plant buffers, mow no shorter than 3 inches, avoid excess fertilizer and pesticides.
Protect the Lake's Inhabitants
Never flush medications, dispose of hazardous waste properly, avoid fluid leaks from watercraft, keep plastics out of the lake.
Reduce Water Runoff
Reduce impermeable surfaces, install rain barrels, wash vehicles at a car wash rather than in the driveway.
Keep Out Invasive Species
Clean, drain, and dry watercraft and trailers between uses; never dump unused live bait into the lake.
